York County Flyers Annual Fly-In
August 27, 2011
Historic Downtown York, South Carolina
As part of Summerfest York County Flyers, a non-profit club of more than eighty Carolinians devoted to promoting interest in building and flying radio controlled model aircraft, will host their annual Fly-In on August 27. The Fly-In will be held at Langrum Branch Road off East Liberty Street in York from 9 AM to 2:30 PM.
Members include kids of all age, from 11 years old to several well over 80 years of age. The club members fly war birds, sail planes, giant scale acrobats weighing 35 pounds, micro scale planes weighing less than an ounce, planes that are all-electric, others that run on gasoline or a nitro mixture, and a wide variety of helicopters. There are several father-son teams who are learning to fly together. Many YCF pilots also compete very successfully in both national and international competitions.
